New Commit Antiquawn Beckham

Link

Will he play the one or the two? We'll see. We need as many options at the one and two as we can get for next season.

From a 2007 ESPN evaluation: "Twany" is a point guard in a wing's body as he has good size and athleticism but plays the game as if he were a facilitating point guard. He would be an ideal fit on a team that needs a backcourt mate for a scoring little guard as Twany thinks pass first and is more than capable of initiating offense. In fact, he would do well to become more aggressive looking for his own shot. When in scoring mode he is at his best when slashing along the baseline where he has a quick first step and finishes fairly well. His jumper has improved to the point where he is a consistent threat to make open shots, but he will never be considered a shooter. He also uses his size to his advantage by bringing smaller defenders to the block where he can create his own shot or find teammates for open looks if the defense doubles down. Beckham rebounds well from the perimeter and is also a capable defender thanks in large part to his long physique and above average quickness.

Hopefully Twanny can play some defense.

Antiquawn Beckham can really pass the ball. He and Dee Bost are both set to get serious looks at point guard. Also wings/shooting guards. Beckham is set to help in several spots, and he can defend. This kid is a very talented/highly skilled athelete.

Mississippi State is bringing in some very talented young guards. Antiquawn Beckham is very talented, big upside.

Very encouraging. Arliss, thanks for the great updates. Can't get this kind of "on the spot" insider updates anywhere else.

We have potential to be pretty decent this year. Tip off is only about 7 months away!

7 months is too long. I'm ready now.

Has Jamont Gordon stopped going to class?

(?) Where are they now...

late 90's point guard Todd Myles

Who needs Ben?

I'm sure this is old news to you guys, but I missed it. Apparently Dee Bost was the MVP of the National Prep tournament, while leading his team to the National Prep Title. Good comments about his play at this link:

Antiquawn, Dee, Romero, Jarvis, Ravern, Barry, Elgin, Brian...

Not bad. Not bad at all. If we can win some games in the early part of the schedule and GET OUR YOUNGSTERS SOME EARLY PLAYING TIME, we just might win another SEC West Championship... and make another trip back to the Big Dance.

If Jamont comes back, it could be Sweet... as in 16.

I hear he is a very good defensive player.

Beckham....Defensive stopper type potential. Known as a very good defender.

Defensive stopper. That is what we want. That is what we need.

Antiquawn Beckham's playmaking shows flashes of players like Jason Kidd, Ect. His passing skills appear Harlem Globetrotters like. He's a very talented player. Lots of people will soon find out about his amazing abilities with the ball. Also, Reports describe him as a big time playmaker, outstanding athelete, and talk about how he has struggled with his outside shooting and free throw shooting. He's been to prep school, and has made a lot of progress in these areas and others.

Antiquawn Beckham quotes(New England Recruiting Report.com)....."I’m at the point where I want people to know that just because I’m tall and can score that doesn’t make me a wing,” he said. “I’m a true point guard. I’m at my best when I can distribute the ball. But I will do whatever coach needs me to do. If I have to move over and score I can do it…whatever it takes to make my team better

Antiquawn Beckham is a big time talent, and will get a serious look at point guard. Capable of being a very good player/point guard for Mississippi State. Playmaking machine.
