Off to Atlanta!!

Well, considering the 5-5 start its safe to say we had a very good season. Like Rick mentioned on the post game, we were two shots away from being 14-2 and regular season champs. Since the league split into east and west divisions, a 12-4 clip was good enough six different times to take the regular season title. Charles played a huge role coming down the stretch and played like we always hoped he would this season. Through all the drama he provided us over the last four years, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone to say anything negative about Charles who had the chance to meet him in person. Charles will always be one of the most fan friendly players we've every had. Thanks you Charles for stepping up to the plate this season. I don't think many people know what Jamont is going to do. Alot depends on the big dance, but my gut says he'll be back.

Now, off to Atlanta! Do we match up better against Bama or UF? I think UF and I think that is the matchup. Jarvis give the gators alot of problems but Hendrix gives Jarvis alot of problems. One thing I've learned following the dogs over the years is the only way to be a fan and not yank all your hair out is to take it game by game. But if we take care of business on Friday, we could see the Rebs again. I would rather see KY, especially with Patterson out, but KY could give our back court fits.

001 said at the game on Sat. that Vandy was a quality loss, if there is such a thing. After Rick's post game comment on the atmosphere at Vandy the toughest atmosphere from here on out (including Atlanta and NCAA's), that makes alot of sense to me. My honest opinion of this team, we are playing our best ball of the year right now and I think Rick has a Sweet 16 team. I think we play on Sunday in Atlanta and I'm hoping for a 5 for 6 seed. I think we get hosed with a 8 or 7 seed. If we do get a 7, I would like to see us in the same bracket as a 2 seed Duke. I originally planned to make the trip to Atlanta, but our first child is the way soon, and we will be limited to watching on TV. I hope all enjoy the weekend to come and the big dance. Personally, the next 3 weeks are the greatest time of the year for sports. If you have any thoughts, predictions, or anything to get off your chest, let it rip! Go Dogs!!!

Matthew 9:22 Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment.

I'm hoping we get Ole Miss after we beat Florida on Friday. Kentucky will never, ever be an easy game in the SEC Tournament. Had you rather play in front of 20,000 UK fans or 3,000 Ole Miss fans?

Has Stans ever won coach of the year? I dont think he won it the year we won the overall, think Odom got it. Can you believe that.

I hope we get the mildcats and put them out again. We will make it Dawglanta instead of catlanta. Our players would love such a challenge.

Come on over to the ATL and support dem dawgs, its going to be a special run or dance whatever you want to call it.

Wonder how many dawgs are going to stay home and watch the baseball series? Who is the brain surgeon that scheduled the start of the sec so early? Thank you sec.

Will Ravern eclipse Charles dunk record? I love that guy!

Arliss,

When you were singing the praises of Ravern early in the year, I was a doubter. After all, media outlets like Rivals mentioned Augustus and Bailey, but never Ravern.

You were right, he is going to be very good. And we are going to have a few good seasons ahead of us to look forward to!

We'll miss Charles terribly next year, but don't forget that we have a pretty decent young player named Romero coming to town. Stewart, Hans, Swat, Gordon (hopefully), Ravern, Bailey and B. Johnson will all be back! Turner isn't half bad either.

Okay, still a lot to look forward to this year... SEC Tourney Champs and NCAA Final Four anyone?

Hope Stans considers giving Ravern more pt, of course he is only a freshman but there are so many freshman making a difference and on high profile teams.

Ravern is a player who can create his own shot,(off the dribble). His leaping ability combined with his quick first step will equal major point production by his junior year. With his lenght in time he could become a lock down defender. He is a pure shooter, no doubt about it. At times this season you felt like he couldn't hit water if he fail out of a boat. But we have all seen flashes out what he can do. He is long and lean and we should see his production and minutes increase next year and by 10-11 he could be our offense could run through Ravern. Just my take, we'll see. Whether we get Scotty or not I like the our offensive potential with Ravern and Romero in the lineup. They could be putting up 50 a night btw them like Jamont and Charles did at times this season.

Foster would be a good example of the potential of Ravern, only Ravern is probably a better athlete. We know very well what Foster is capable of.

Would like to see him get on a roll in the dance. Great shooters seem to take a big role in a run to the final four. Humphrey, Anderson guy from uConn, our own Daryl Wilson.

Does anyone have video of our 96 season?

Ravern has plenty of potential as a defender as well

I'm sure one of you guys could post the facts on our '96 run...

what teams/seeds did we beat to get there?

Little help?

1995-96 Mississippi State Bulldogs made it to Final-4 as a 5 seed after winning the SEC tournament over Number 1 ranked Kentucky.

They defeated Virginia Commonwealth (12 seed), Princeton
(13 seed), Connecticut (1 seed) and Cincinnati (2 seed) to reach the Final-4. Defeating a 1 seed and a 2 seed in the same tournament is pretty rare and impressive.

1995-96 team was 10-6 SEC (1st SEC West) and 26-8 overall.
