Future Bulldog?

His name is Deandre Hersey and he is from Reform, AL. From a fellow blogger who doesn't want to be named. Check it out here: http://www.cdispatch.com/articles/2008/02/12/sports/sports02.txt

http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/20080206/NEWS/261965761/1015/NEWS

Could he be a possible replacement, won't know until April.

Interesting: "Wallace said Hersey has a 7-foot wing span and shoots 73 percent from the foul line. He scored 33 of his team’s 56 points in a game against Class 5A John Carroll.“He’s scoring right at 40 percent of our points,” Wallace said. “As far as what he means to this basketball team, he’s rock solid. He’s not a selfish individual. He does his job for his teammates every single night.”Hersey didn’t play AAU basketball during the summer. He stayed around home and volunteered for a church-sponsored program to improve the community. Wallace said Hersey is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes."

Does this mean we've given up on Scotty?

I don't think anyone outside of the coaching staff can answer that question. But you they always have someone waiting to take someone's place.

Very impressive how fast Stans signed Riley Benock once he knew the Delk's were transferring. Maybe 2 days?

Think Arliss is right. Stans and staff have a back-up plan to cover all possibilities.

Hersey: 6-6, 220. Hopson: 6-5, 180. Hersey looks like a good catch! Dawgs can always use 'big' help.

April sign date will be interesting!

Is he a power forward? I couldn't get a feel as to what position he would play in college.

If he truly has a 7ft wingspan he could play PF even at 6-6 as long as he has decent leaping ability (See Jason Maxiel formerly of Cincy).

Everything else being equal I would rather have a 6-6 power forward with a 7ft wingspan than a 6-8 power forward with a 6-10 wingspan.

I'm still holding out for Hopson even though it crowds the SG/SF picture. With Jamont likely leaving and no other real playmaker in sight we are going to need guys like Hopson who can creat their own shot.

A non-Top 150 a replacement for a Top 10 doesn't reassure me.

I would think he might be "Plan C".He's kind of short for a power forward.

Latavious Williams (6-8, 195 3-star) from Starkville is still in the recruiting picture. Also Rashanti Harris (6-9, 240 4-star) from Columbus.

Scotty may still sign with Dawgs. We will be rebuilding slightly next year and good chance for him to have an impact.

A lineup that featured starters:
1- Stewart
2- Hansborough
3- Hopson
4- Bailey/B Johnson
5- Varnado

and backups such as R Johnson, Benock, Bost, Turner, Augustus and Osby would make rebuilding go ALOT smoother.

Man.. captaindawg

That line-up and that bench look pretty good! And you didn't mention possible other recruits (Latavious, Rashanti, 'whoever').

Don't know about you guys but I'm happy if our program can play in post-season year-after-year. Don't care whether NCAA or NIT. The number of teams that make it to NCAA every year is very slim.

It's a mark of pride to say our program has made it to post-season play X number of years. Stansbury has been great at this.

Hope you guys look at this Hopson article before it rolls off.. Stansbury treated Hopson like part of the family. Very impressive recruiting move:
