MSU 61 USC 56

What can you say. Maybe Iceman? Great job Ben!!!! What an ugly game. I'm just about speachless. Two things in overtime, Phil's 3 and Elgin's rebound, huge, huge. Lets hope the friendly confounds of the Hump will get us out of our shooting slump. Great game Charles. If we win the West by 1 game, we owe to Ben. I can't handle those types of games. Did everyone else about pass out with that ending. Let get home and take care of business on Wednesday. Go Dawgs!!!

Not me. I like the excitement. Way to go Ben.

Just like we've all done on the hoop in our back yard as a kid. But in a real game.

He shoots! Misses! But he was fouled!

Swish.

Swish.

Swish.

The crowd goes wild!!!!!!!!

Thanks Ben. Icewater!

Dawg's shot 43.4%... good offense! Held SC to 30.8%... great D!!

Ben's 3 FTs.. winning without Swat or JG in OT.. incredible.

Dawgs locked up first round bye in SEC tourn with the victory.

Great coaching and a great team win!! And way to stand-up Phil Turner!!

There were two victims as a result of the game tonight; South Caronlina and my TV remote. I usually don't lose my cool, but near the end of USCs 2nd half run my remote went flying across the room to it's shadowy grave. Never have I been so stressed out by a win.

It is to be noted that if we beat Auburn at home in our next game and Arkansas loses on the road to Alabama, we have guaranteed ourselves at least a share of the West. If Arkansas loses any of their remaining games and we beat Auburn and LSU at home, we win it outright.

We're certainly in a very good position.

Good point Kurt. IMO, I think our goal should be off the bubble going into the tournament. I think that we need to win 3 of the next four, very tough task, but that would put us at 12-4 SEC and 21 wins overall and I think that would solidify our NCAA resume. But 20 overall wins, 11-5 with a west title would be hard to argue with 5-6 at large bids to be give out and most likely a 11-5 record would be at worst tied for 2nd overall record in the SEC.

Hopefully by us winning this road game at USC we'll be looser going into the UF game and VU games on the road. If we hold serve at home then they would be seeding games as opposed to must wins.

Also, if we can win another SEC West title it would do wonders for our being able to sell the consistency of program. How long has it been now that a 4 year MSU player has at least one SEC West championship ring?

After looking it up...Starting with the freshman class of the year that Stansbury took over in 98-99 every 4 year player for MSU has left college with either a SEC tourney title, SEC West title and/or SEC overall title.

Hey Captain!

I'm not sure where to look so have to ask...

In Stansbury's 9 years as coach.. how many?:
SEC Best record
SEC West titles
SEC Tournament titles
NIT invites
NCAA invites

Thanks!

SEC Best record
1
SEC West titles
3 I think
SEC Tournament titles
1 with 1 runnerup
NIT invites
3
NCAA invites
4

Thanks CaptainDawg!

Found this info on Miss State site. SEC West crowns 03,04,07. NCAA tourn was 02 thru 05.

So after this year...

4 SEC West crowns in last 6 years
5 NCAA tournaments in last 7 years

Oh yeah...

Stansbury deserves a basketball practice facility!

and the coaches and the team deserve a packed house every game.

Go to the game, support your team, let them know that you are a real fan...

Hey guys arliss does a great job blogging MSU basketball. I'm going to try my hand at blogging as well. Go check out my new blog. http://msudawgnews.blogspot.com/

Like I said, Arliss does an awesome job here, but will try to cover all things MSU on new site. I know it looks a little weak now, but just got it up and running.

We came in at 26 in the coaches poll today.

No team in the top 25 has more than 6 losses, we are at 26 with 8 losses.
