We Had No Answer

Just back from the Tad Pad. We had no answer for the rebs tonight. They brought their A game tonight and the dogs were rattled at the half. They played like they were a 17-0 team with a national ranking. Jamont tried to take over the game at the end, but just couldn't do it. Several thing doomed us. They attacked the basket at will, out rebounded us, we didnt shoot well and just looked like a tired team at times out there. Warren got his touch back tonight. We had two runs in the second, but just couldn't stop them. The rebels had all the celeberties out tonight. Shepard Smith and Eli were in attendance. We just have to swallow this on and move on. USC is a must win on Saturday. Lets put this one behind us and move on to Carolina.

Losing an instate rivalry game on the road is not a big deal.

Losing at South Carolina on Sat would be a big deal!

Arkansas at Kentucky, 1pm CBS
Miss St at SC, 3pm Raycom

Ole Miss just wanted it more. Dawgs came out hot and led by 7 but let off the gas about 12 min mark of first half. Ole Miss took over and never let up. Most telling stat… at halftime Ole Miss led rebounds 28-17… and had 15 offensive rebounds!! Now that’s serious effort!

Dawgs fought hard in second half. Ended up tied in rebounds at 41-41 and held Ole Miss to 3 offensive rebounds in second half. Each time Dawgs cut into the lead.. Ole Miss responded. Dawgs got no closer than 4.

Ole Miss played to their potential and gave more consistant effort. They deserved to win… and they suck.

With only 1 more win, the Dawgs will clinch a first round bye in the SEC tournament.

For all the "it;s just ONE loss" stuff I'm reading on message boards......

BULLPUCKY !!!!

We are 2-6 vs. top 50 RPI teams, at this point ANY loss is a BIG DEAL !!! That's why the lack of urgency our coaching staff and players put on display in the last 3/4 of that game (and in about half of the arkansas game) are incredibly TROUBLING. The scheme seems to be "go out there and wait/hope for the other team to screw up more than we do"

Not good.

When you shoot just over 30% from the floor, you normally do not win. Stewart has been lightin' up from the outside. He went cold in this one. Hansbrough on the other hand has stepped up his shooting and seems to thrive under pressure. Get that boy some open looks!

Hope you guys look at this Hopson article before it rolls off.. Stansbury treated Hopson like part of the family. Very impressive recruiting move:

Remember each year when the pundits are discussing which teams will make the NCAA tournament.. they refer to Good Wins and Bad Losses.

The one thing the Dawgs have avoided so far this year is a Bad Loss. Nobody would consider the loss to Ole Miss as a Bad Loss.

Losing to South Carolina... one of the lowest teams in the SEC standings... would be a Bad Loss.

Winning every game is important.. but if you're going to lose a game.. don't lose to a team that you're clearly supposed to beat.
