Game Recap

That was a tough loss to swallow last night. Sometimes I feel like all we do is throw up three pointers and let Jamont drive the lane. Rick's comments after the game were true also about this team losing the game b/c of not being discipline enough. McClinton killed us, Jack described it perfectly, he "Bombed the Bullies". This is for sure a needed win for our resume. Ben's off night and 0-8 from the field was tough for the team. Our starters played literally the whole game and where winded at the end. One of our problems seems to be the bench, but are our freshmen not playing well enough to get that chance, I don't know, b/c their on the bench ( notice the my frustration for Bailey not playing last night). I have been holding back, but we have alot of improvement to make and not much time to get it done. We will have to get it together in the SEC, b/c it has not worked out in the pre-SEC like everyone thought. But, don't forget bulldog fans, that is what I love about basketball, if you lose, get over, b/c we'll be playing again shortly. So, vent your frustrations here. That is all I want to say about the Miami game! Go Dawgs!!!!!

No Bailey, no Augustus..... we did see Turner and his play has really not lived up to what he did on the Vancouver trip and in scrimmages.

I think the lack of foul trouble doomed Bailey to the bench.

Rick is to reliant on his comfort zone, in terms of personel. He has to let FR play through mistakes and spread thier wings in order to have some depth. Unless they have character issues and that doesn't seem to be the case. ZD

Bench minutes:

B. Johnson: 14
R. Benock: 7
P. Turner: 5

That's a total of 26 bench minutes, meaning the avg starter played about 35 minutes. There's just no way that's going to work. Kodi Augustus scored 8 points in 3 minutes last game, yet we still can't find a way to get him off the bench.

Not sure that lost us this game, though. Turnovers weren't bad ( save Jamont's 6...everyone else had a total of 4) Rebounding was about even, free throws weren't great, except that we didn't shoot any until the 2nd half. The difference was our inability to hit three's, and our inability to stop McClinton down the stretch.

Sure hope we get it turned around....sigh

We've looked terrible thus far.

Our offense is non-existent. Seriously, it appears that we run a playground offense. We NEVER, I repeat NEVER run screens away from the all to try to free up shooters or get easy looks at the basket.

I’m sure that I’m not the only one wondering where Kodi was, especially after Ben was cold as Siberia!

why! why! why! did Stan not recognize that Miami had Jamont’s number in the last 4 minutes? Why did he continue to let him drive wildly into the lane, draw charges/throw an errant passes? I am sick and tired of it!!!!

Do we not know how to tell who has a hot hand????? Barry Stewart shot over 50% from beyond the arc. Jamont was 1 for 5 and we all know how Ben shot. Rick… do you know how to set a screen that will free up your hot shooter for a good look at the basket?

Where was Kodi?

I quit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking Toward USA.....
They are a really good team.

I went to the Vanderbilt vs USA game that went to OT. They have a really quick guard and they shot the threes well. Down low, they were not bad either. They can rain them, so we better play good Defense.

Tom, that is not true. We run a number of screens.

The problem is that our shooters do not use them. I've seen both Ben and Barry become open off of a screen countless times and they simply freeze and pass off the ball instead of taking the shot.

Mississippi State is still capable of a big season, and fans are still talking about the team getting it together. It's not over. Mississippi State...............

The freshmen can help this team. Ravern, Kodi, Phil, and Riley are very good shooters. Elgin has/shows potential. All are talented. All of them have good atheletic ability. All have good upsides. These kids can be developed.

"These kids can be developed"...

not if they don't play.

"we run a number of screens"

I'm talking about the kind of screens and open shots that you saw run against us by Miami of Ohio.

We do not have an offense. Period.
