John Harris At 6’8”, he has the height, but not the weight at this time. I do know that he can step outside and shoot 3’s. His biggest needs at this time are strength and athleticism.
Brandon Bolen Here’s another smart kid. 4.0 and 30+ on his ACT. Know very little about Brandon except he does bring some toughness and a great physical and mental attitude to the game.
Joseph Iupe His role this year hasn’t changed. It’ll be the same as last year.
Billy Begley He is a senior this year and Coach awarded him with a scholly. His role this year will be the same as we have seen for the past three years.

This is the last in the Player Progression Series. I would like to thank 001 for putting all this together for all to view. In a week or two we are going to start breaking MSU's opponents. The ticket applications are out, priority seating is near, the season is right around the corner. It will be here before you know it, I can't wait. I'll try my best to keep the posts going until tip off, GO DAWGS!

Interesting insight! I like the GPA help, definitely.
itll be nice to have a guy with height and size on our team without taking up a scholarship. in the last decade, the only walkon i can remember that has even been 6'5 is Bohler. everyone else has been an undersized SG.
i dont know if anyone else has read about this, but Florida is hurting for size for their starters to practice against. i mean REALLY hurting. to the point of posting an open invite on the school's website asking for big men only to try out for walk on spots.
they only have 9 scholarship players right now, and the 'scout team'(walkons and those that dont play) is void of big men.
that is quite the interesting position for the two time defending NCs to find themselves in.
with Goodridge and Rimmer leaving, we needed a big man to come in for a body to post up against in practices. great to see that we now have one and without using a scholarship!

Great point, glfr.
I'm a huge billy begley fan. I love that he's always the first one off the bench, encouraging the other guys. I'd bet he works his hind end off in practice making the other players better.
Solid group. Bolen and Harris, both have good upsides. 6-8 John Harris - Knocks down the three pointers.
It's easy to forget, during the season when other guys are getting most of the glory, that it takes EVERY MEMBER of the team to make a team. Those walk-ons are important. The help they provide in practice is very significant, as well as the positive attitudes and love of Mississippi State University that they bring to the program! In addition, down the line,a couple of them also may be able to provide in-game contributions as well!

i talked with one of johns harris friends today and he said he quit the team.
I don't think he has quite just yet. That decision won't be made until next week. He is a very studious young man and IMHO puts academics first. A lot of these young men coming in and walking on for BB don't realize how much time is put into the program with weight and conditoning and practice, etc. Especially those coming out of private schools. It takes a lot of dedication to play college sports and keep up good academics.
