According to Veazy's Blog

Charles Thomas has been suspended for the MSU game on Wednesday. This should be a hit to ARK's lineup and will be interesting. Thomas has done a good job in the past of defending Charles. Thomas has been contributing 10.5 pts and 5.1 rbs on the season.

I was worried about this game because Arky returned their top-7 players from last year. Arky dogged us twice in last 2 weeks of 2007 and took our NCAA tournament spot. Arky beat us BAD on the boards last year against 4-guard lineup. This year, Dawgs have Rhodes/Varnado starting with Bailey and BJ in reserve. I think part of Stans off-season plan was to start Rhodes/Varnado in order to beat Arky. Stans was looking at Arky as our top SEC West competition.. for good reason.

With Thomas out.. and Dawgs having just played their best game of season.. and best SEC West record on the line.. this makes it very interesting.

Dawgs have lots of motivation to pay back Arky!

there isnt any reason why now we should let up on arkansas. this game leads to one of the better match ups of the season. TENNESSEE

Jamont, Magic Johnson in maroon shorts. What a pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winning on the road in SEC always worries me. Remember the officiating at Bama 2 weeks ago? If that happens at Arky.. we could be in trouble.

Jamont’s pass is my favorite part of the whole game because…

Not only did all the Dawg fans get to laugh at Ole Miss…

But.. thanks to that pass.. the whole country got to laugh at Ole Miss too! Even the sports announcers were laughing!

How great is that?!? Jamont gave Ole Miss a wedgie on national TV!!!

What a great game…

One final comment on Ole Miss game:

Jamont, Charles, Jarvis all played incredible, Stewart (shooting) and Turner (rebounds) were good.

but the stat that jumped off the page at me was... our bench.

21 mins and 4-5 shooting Riley Bennock! Easily his most mins this year.. and produced! We needed him to step up in Ben's absence and BAM! Stans said:

"He came in and knocked down shots,
played smart and did not make mistakes. His bench play was huge tonight. He has done a great job stepping up especially in Ben’s [Hansbrough] absence."

and Bailey working 3 boards, 8 pts and 2 blks in 11 mins and Jamont rewarded him for running the floor hard.

and B Johnson with 3 assists, 2 offensive boards in 1l mins.

Ladies and Gents, we have a special team brewing here! This is going to be fun!!

Hey Kurt.. forgot to mention..

You're right! A win over the Hogs would set us up for SEC West champs. We would be 4-0 with 3 road wins.. don't think anyone would catch us.

Jamont will be making lots of money in the near future!

Right, Doug - my philosophy entering these three games (vs. Ole Miss, @ Arkansas, vs. Tennessee) was...

1 win, still doing pretty well
2 wins, set for SEC West title
3 wins, on our way to SEC overall title

Hey Kurt.. just posted a comment for you under the Ole Miss grade report. Good Call!

Can't wait for the Arky game!

Greatly appreciate the compliment - neither can I.

I guess it's a cliche to call any one game "huge" since they all are, but the ramifications of a win over Arkansas really WOULD be huge.

A win puts the Dogs at 6-0, and their biggest rival, Arkansas at 3-3, giving the Dogs a HUGE 3 game lead in the race for the SEC West title!

A 3 game lead after only 6 games played would put a HUGE amount of space between the Bulldogs and the 2nd place team!

What the heck, I,m going to say it,if the Dogs can pull this one off, it would be a HUGE win!

If we beat Arky... the SEC West race is over. Not only would we be 6-0 in SEC... but 4-0 in SEC West with 3 road wins.

For SEC West, that would leave 4 home games and 2 road games.

HUGE!
