Game Recap MSU 77 Laf. 53
I don't know if it was the opponent or the facility, but this was not one of the more entertainin MSU games I've attended. The scoring was spread around with Ben making some nice catch and shootsplays. MSU has been know for playing down to its competition and at times this game was no exception. It just felt like the team wasn't pushing the ball down the court like they could. The leopards got alot of loose balls that they had no business getting to. The game was highlighted by two things, a bunch of nonathletic players from Lafeyette coming up about 6 inches shy of dunks on more than one occasion. The leopards have played some folks close, but they were one dimensional and when they couldn't hit their 3's, our lead grew. The other thing that stuck out in the contest was Ravern Johnson, 11 point wasn't much to write home about but he had some nice moves and I he might have shot one 3 the entire game. I still think our offense will run through Ravern in a couple of years. It was a win none the less, but from the time the buzzer sounded to end the game, its time for SEC. Whatever disappointments we've experienced so far this season, it doesn't matter now. Its SEC time and lets take it game by game. It looks to be a weaker conference than years past and still think 10 wins will take the west. 12 wins might take the overall title this season. Well bulldog fans, it time and it all starts Wednesday night. It's a new season, I'm ready, are you?

LSU game will be interesting. I haven't really seen them since they played Okie St. in "How-are-ya."
I understand that Mitchell is out for the year but they have a lot of rangy guards and tall, spindly forwards. If we can make them a jump shooting team then we have a decent chance on the road.
The idea is to finish at least 11-5 in the league this year. Beating a struggling LSU team in BR is a must. ZD
Good win. Jarvis Varnado performed very well in the post. Ben Hansbrough was knocking down shots. Ravern Johnson came in, and played very well. Jamont Gordon-Very talented.
Jamont was 6-19 from the field? 1-4 on 3 point attempts and turned it over 6 times.
Did he play the point, or did he share with Barry again?
Gordon simply must discontinue taking so many shots.
wish this one could have at least been on M2M video. live or delayed, whatever.
anyways, from the writeup and comments, it seems Ben had another excellent game. thats 2 in a row now for him. he has come up big in many games this year, but they have been against the weak teams(except Mizzou). come SEC play, i hope he is able to continue this solid all around play.
Jamont had 6 turnovers?!?! what is he doing to cause all these? yeah, the guy dished out 7 assists, but dang. 6 turnovers against a mediocre Patriot League team??
and Jarvis went off i see. that is pretty cool. he even stepped up and made some freethrows, an obvious weak part of his game.
seeing Ravern and Turner come on the last couple games is good. we will need them come conference play. Turner didnt shoot well yet again, but it looks like he is contributing on the whole.
3 SEC games in a row that are all 'must win' games. it would give the team lots of confidence, and position them as an early leader to top the West. LSU, Auburn, and UK...we are better than all of them.
In the SEC, being "better" isn't enough to win. I will be worried about every one.
Some of Gordon turnovers included a lazy pass to a wing resulting in a "pick 2",a palming the ball call, a 6 inch from the floor bullet pass past Varnado (uncatchable).IMO he'll never learn to value the ball unless TO's affect his playing time. Doxie
Who played the point in this game?
Did Jamont and Barry alternate?
Who got the lion's share of PG time?
If I'm remembering correctly, Gordon played most of the point, but I do recall seeing Barry there a small bit.
Phil Turner- Very active player, energy.
what is the latest on Scotty Hopson?
Last I heard... Scotty had re-opened his recruitment. Believe that means he is not committed to any team.
'In the SEC, being "better" isn't enough to win.'
--this year, i think it is more than enough.
the SEC is pretty awful this year.
