MSU 69 KY 64

What a game, what a game, WHAT A GAME! The end of the game was spent on the edge of my seat hoping for at least 1 of 2 FT's. Great game for Jamont and Jarvis. Its becoming obvious he has a real shot at the SEC record and looks like the MSU recording could be falling with double digit games left in the season. Jamont seemed to have an answer to keep the lead stretched when we needed it.
Great win for MSU: http://www.mstateathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=16800&ATCLID=1369323
If we can go to AL and win on the road, folks will have to take us serious with two road wins and two wins against SEC east teams. Big game on Saturday and a nail biter tonight. Go Dawgs!!!

Yes, It was a great game!!! The only thing that disappointed me was the attendence of the the fans. The Hump should have been packed! Even after I increased my donation, I was one of those who got shafted on the season tickets. Last night I had to buy a ticket for $30 from a scalper to go to the game. I have also noticed that the same seats are for sale on the Stubhub each week, of course for a big profit. I hope that Bulldog Club in their infinite knowledge will take notice of those who bought seats and did not use them. Sorry, for the rant. If you are a season ticket holder then GO TO THE GAME! Support the Dawgs. They are putting forth great effort and deserve a full house at the Hump. To those who went to the game...your enthusiasm was outstanding and the team responded. Way to go Dawgs!

Good win for Mississippi State. "SWAT"

"swattage" - a term coined by Kyle Veazey of the Clarion Ledger used to refer to the shot blocking exploits of one Dr. Swat.

Idea for student section at the HUMP.

At Major League baseball games, when a pitcher pitches a strikeout, some fans will post on the wall a 2x1 poster of a "K" to signify a strikeout. During the game... there are lots of "K"s.

Idea - every time Dr. Swat blocks a shot... someone from student section should post a "B" (block) or "S" (Swat) on the side wall.

What Varnado is doing is very, very rare in basketball and I'm sure posting the "S" would catch the cameras and only add to what is a great college basketball story for this year.

What do you guys think?

Not a bad idea.

Doug, that's a great idea. But there's no sidewall I know of except the advertising board. Maybe the students could hold them up. Also the 'swats' might be accumulated and shown periodically like the advertisements on either the advertising board that rotates or BEST on the lower part of the scoreboard reserved for advertisers.

What about hanging up plastic flyswatters right behind where the TV announcers sit ?

maybe a long string/small rope tied to a helium balloon. pull it down, add a letter "B" or "S" or fly swat and let it go back up.

Good point Bill about the no wall space.. didn't think of that. And good ideas by everybody! I just think we should do something because this is a big story.

It's not like a scoring record. It's an unusual talent based on timing. Think of the company Dr. Swat is in... about to pass Mr. Erick Dampier (6-11)... will pass Shaquille O'Neal (7-1)... could challenge David Robinson (7-1). Last 2 are NBA Hall of Fame players! In a few weeks, the media is going to catch on and the Dawgs/Dr. Swat are going to get lots of pub.

Dawgs have other stories too:
- Younger brother Hans
- Gordon, the fullback point guard
- Rhodes, senior All-SEC talent
- Dawgs pushing for SEC, SEC West
and NCAA tournament.

By the time the Arky ESPN game gets here Feb. 16, Dr. Swat will be in +-130 block neighborhood. And by the time the @Florida CBS game gets here Mar. 1, Dr. Swat will be +-150 blocks and could break Shaq's SEC record of 157 that day.

The media will be on this story!

I like the idea of students holding up "S" in a row for each block. The balloon idea is good too except might "block" someone's view a few rows back.

Everybody should start bring fly-swatters to the games and holding them up the whole time the other team has the ball.

In fact....

For the Ole Miss game... everyone bring your fly-swatters!

"DR. SWAT" is awesome in the paint. Puts on a show. Phenom.

"swattage"

ABSOLUTELY! I love the fly swatter idea!! Use a black magic marker to write a giant "V" on each side for Varnado.

Also, you guys have to do the sign idea. That is absolutely outstanding - ingenious, doug.

Hey thanks Kurt! I like the "V" idea... kind've like the "V" shirts from the last U2 Vertigo Tour. Anybody got one of those?

Another idea would be to make it like a paddle-ball with a short string and a small orange ball. Short string would make it easier to control. Or just glue a small orange ball on the fly-swatter.

Did some checking... Other Dawgs have some hops and help Dr. Swat "just say no" also.

Last 5 games, Dawgs have 58 blocks:
Dr. Swat - 37
Gordon - 7
Turner - 4
Rhodes - 3
R Johnson - 2
Bennock - 2
Augustus - 1
Bailey - 1
B Johnson - 1

So it might be a good idea to keep the fly-swatters up when the other team has the ball instead of just when a block occurs.

Look at all the backup points in the nba and tell me that Timmy and Zimm dont belong. Politics, politics,go to notre dame, maryland any of the name schools and youve got a job riding the coattails of the best players in the world.

I vote for Joe Dean Jr. for AD. Bet he would get a practice facility for Stans.

Love him as an anouncer too.
