The cats are coming to town tonight and it should be a good one. For the past two seasons, it seems like there was only one man that could stop Jamont and that was Randolf Morris. Thankfully he's gone and KY will has been thin in this area. The only frontcourt player with any type of experience before this year is 6'9" 190 lb Perry Stevenson. Newcomer Patrick Patterson is the man in the middle for the wildcats. Jarvis should match up well with with Stevenson or Patterson. The cats are a guard dominated lineup with several key players still missing from the rotation. The cats knocked Vandy from the ranks of the unbeaten and should be flying high when they get to the hump. I think its time we took KY down a couple of notches tonight. Its obvious Ben won't be at full strength tonight, could we see Ravern or Riley come into their own t0night. Be their if you can, or catch it on ESPN @ 8PM. Go Dawgs!!!

We'll need every Bulldog fan available to make the Hump rockin'.
At the mid-point, thought I would compare this year to last year. This team is not as good as last year. Not meaning to be negative as much as get my own expectations in line.
We lost Slater, Double-Delk… all 6′4 and big men Goodrich and Rimmer. Rimmer is no consequence… but other losses hurt.
We are worse at big depth. B Johnson has struggled to provide productive backup for Rhodes/Dr. Swat. Last year, Goodrich was more productive as backup than B Johnson has been. With injury to Rhodes… that leaves us with one big… Dr. Swat. Goodrich/Rimmer would be more productive backup (and more experienced) than B Johnson/Bailey.
Argument could be made that our defense is a push from last year but Slater/Delk/Delk were taller and more athletic than Hans/Stewart/Turner. The current group has fought hard to play good defense and over-come their lack of height and over-all athleticism.
Our 3-point shooting is worse. Reg Delk is better spot up 3-point shooter than anyone we have now.
Our depth off the bench is worse. Last year we had Hans/Stewart/Varnado/Goodrich off the bench. This year we have Bennock/Bailey/R Johnson/B Johnson. No comparison. Last year’s bench was far more productive than this year’s has been.
I'm with you Doug. Honestly, before the season started, I thought we stood a chance at being better. However, that rosey outlook depended on our current starters being able to put up big offensive numbers. That also depended on some anticipated impressive early play from our fab freshmen. Neither have panned out as of yet.
I'm not ready to throw in the towel. I think we have a chance to be better if we can get some consistent play out of Jamont and some consistent shooting from Hans and Stewart.
And once our freshmen start seeing our experienced players play with confidence, maybe they'll respond in kind.
Hoping for a statement-win tonight! But, I'll take any kind of W we can get.
Dude, this team is LEADING THE NATION in DEFENSE.
OFFICIALLY.
STATISTICALLY.
THIS TEAM IS PLAYING THE BEST FIELD GOAL DEFENSE OF ANY OF THE, I guess, three hundred and something teams that there are.
Not #2, guy, #1!
are!
The thing about statements like "leading the nation" is that no team has played "the nation".
For instance... every year Ohio State is "leading the nation" because they play in a high school conference. If they played a tougher schedule, they wouldn't be "leading the nation".
Dawgs have a good - working on great - defense but that's mostly due to Dr. Swat... not our guard play. Our defense is improving. If we played defense we have now against those teams we lost to early... might be different outcome.
So far, we've beaten teams with less talent than us. There are big challenges just ahead and we will need that defense.
Rhodes getting hurt was a blessing for our defense!
