LSU Preview

The first thing that stands out to about this game is that we open and close the season with the bayou bengals. The star of the team is McDonald's AA Anthony Randolf who is second in scoring. Randolf is 6'10 and can play inside and out. They are led by Marcus Thornton in scoring with 17.5 ppg. The tigers are 7-7 and have lost to teams that were expected and some that were not. This is a must win for the dogs and we need to strike while the tigers are down, they could be a totally different team by the time we end the season. Our third game in a row without Charles, lets cross our fingers and hope the small lineup continues to be successful. More info check it out here:
Luke 8:25 He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. "Where is your faith?" he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him."

This will be a crucial game for the Dawgs.

This will be the easiest opportunity for a road win for the Dawgs. Hope they make it count!

Positive affects of the Rhodes injury are extra responsibilty for Dr. Swat (Varnado)... a chance to really step up. B. Johnson/Bailey and Bennock will also see more time but Ravern could have the best opportunity to create a spot for himself in the rotation.

If we get past LSU... next 2 are at home... second one against Kentucky on ESPN and a chance for a seven game win streak! Hope we can fill the Hump for both games!!

Make it happen Dawgs!!

Unlike the the other freshmen that have a more limited game, R Johnson has the ability to score and disrupt the other team's offense in several ways. He even made some good defensive plays on saturday. I was most impressed with his shot block and subsequent rebound.

Basketball is not how you start but how you finish. Although we have had a rough start to the season if we can finish with a winning SEC record (that means winning some road games including tonight)we might be able to make the Big Dance in March. Last year we tied for first in the West but still did not advance to the NCAA Tourney because 8 and 8 is not good enough in a conference that is struggling against the other power conferences. This game tonight is very crucial for our Dawgs. If Phil Turner can provide the defensive presence that Slater provided last year we might be able to get by without Charles for a short time. I would really like to see B. Johnson play more with Charles out.

I would really like to see Jamont come out and play under control. If he'll get control of himself, and stop worrying about his own game, and start helping his fellow teammates in their games, then we have a chance to turn things around. But, as long as we see quotes like this:

"Once I get going and get back in rhythm and everything, I think we will be a lot better.”

Jamont we do not need you to "get going and get back in rhythm." We need you to play under control.

We need Charles to continue to play well. We need Hansbrough and Stewart to continue to play well, and we need Turner and Ravern to continue to excel.

We do not need "more" from Jamont, we need less. Less turnovers, less 3 point attempts, and less out of control play.

I completely agree with Tom....

I also noticed Gordon's quote and cringed. Gordon is a great talent but needs to play under control and lose the ego.

Best thing Stans did for Gordon was when he sat him down the second half of Ole Miss game at Hump last year. Hope we don't have to sit him again to get his attention.

Gordon is the PG with the ball in his hands. If he starts making bad decisions... then whole team suffers quickly.

Hey Tom... did you also see Stans quote "...there are some not so
positives also. I understand what those things are and we also must learn to win in this league we can not have bad stretches.”

I have a hunch that was aimed at Gordon and his out-of-control play.

I kind of hope those comments were directed at Jamont... but, we'll see.

I would really love to see us put Barry at the point a bit more, as we did in the Missouri game.
