MSU 61 LSU 39

Two things seem to rising to the top with the absence of Charles, Jarvis is being given the opportunity to be the man in the middle and he is taking advantage of it (13pts 17 rbs 7 blks) and we are playing some good defense with this small lineup. The points continue to be spread around. LSU seems to have a long season in front of them. That is some of the worst first half shooting I've seen in awhile for LSU. Jamont came on late, and Ravern continues to look to be some energy off the bench. Our turnovers were horrible in the first half. We need to keep this train rolling , the game on Saturday should be a good one. Dogs and Pups at 1PM.

Georgia Pups improved to 9-4 defeating Georgia Tech (7-7) by a score of 79-72 tonight. We have to win this game also.

For the Dawgs... starting guards had 11 assists and 9 TOs against LSU. Dr. Swat is heading for All-SEC status in a hurry!

I beleive Gordon was 1-5 in first half but then 4-8 in second (5-13) game.

There's a short piece on Ben Hansbrough in ESPN The Magazine, page 60 under the heading Perimeter Threats/Little 'Brough. Mentions that Ben needs to bring a little more Psycho B to the Ole Miss game at the HUMP to make a name for himself. He only scored 6 points total against UM last year.

Did you guys see the Ole Miss vs Tenn Game? Ole Miss looks like they could completely run over just about every team in the SEC.

They looked very tough in a hard fought tough loss in Knoxville.

Glad to see Varnado turn in another great game.

Can't wait to get Rhodes back though. I was sure missing him, expecially in the 1st Half.

Glad to see Ravern get some good minutes and good production. I'd like to see him getting 15-20 minutes soon.

Scary part about Ole Miss is...

Tenn is final 4 talent. Tenn was final 4 talent last year and only lost one guy. They were the highest scoring offense in SEC and had SEC player of the year and they only added more talent.

For Ole Miss to play that close in Knoxville is..... scary.

I read where Ravern's first shot... a 3-point attempt... was an airball by about 2 feet. He nailed his next 3 shots for 6 points on 3-4 shooting. 3 rebounds, 1 offensive too.

12 mins. Is that his season high?

Ravern played 14 mins against Lafayette. 12 mins against LSU is his second most playing time.

Varnado needs more playing time, and thus he needs to stop fouling.

Gordon needs to handle the ball better. I realize he's trying those impressive passes, but it doesn't do any good if the team doesn't have enough chemistry to be looking for them.

I'm curious as to how coach will handle the return of Rhodes. We're playing awfully well in a four-guard lineup.

"Dr. Swat" has been awesome.

61 points against a really bad LSU team?

I think this quote says a lot about status of our team right now:

"The thing you've got to be able to do in this league, you've got to be able to defend and you've got to be able to rebound, and that's what our team has to hang its hat on right now," Stansbury said. "We're not the smoothest team right now offensively."

Doug, our 3 pt shooting was horrific, but our overall shooting percentage was a respectable 48%.

Except for Jarvis and Elgin (1-6), we were pretty decent from the charity stripe too. Gordon and Stewart were a combined 8-11 from the line - and those are the guys, along with Charles and Ben who'll be on the line at the end of a tight game.

17 Turnovers is still too much though.

One reason for our low score was low number shots attempted (50).

Over previous 6 games, our lowest shot attempts was 58 against Loyola Marymount... next was 60 against Mizzou.

Either us or LSU must have been running a lot of clock on their offense.

Our shot attempts/turnover numbers from last 7 games are:
LSU - 50/17
Lafayette - 62/17
Mizzsou - 60/14
TAMCC - 63/10
Loyola M - 58/22
S Alabama - 61/16
Miami - 61/10

Ravern: 14 minutes and also double figures scoring - 11 POINTS. ( Career High) against Lafayette.

(Plus a dunk that looked like he had been shot out of a cannon!)
