Breaking Down the Schedule - USC Anaheim Classic - Hold the Mayo Please

All the talk will be about O J Mayo, one of the most highly touted recruits in the last 10 years. This could be one of the best one on one point guard match ups all season long. This is a challenge Jamont will take to task. I can see Mayo giving Jamont some problems on the perimeter, but Jamont will eat his lunch in the post. The team lost its top 3 scores from a team that went 25-12 that was put out by North Carolina in the round of 16. They will have an athlete to match every one of our athletes. This is the kind of competition that will have the horses to make a run in March. We have to show we can match up with a high caliber team of this type to be a sweet 16 team. They match up well with our front court but the key will be the play of our guards. They have 3 guards who are 6-5 and weigh over two hundred pounds. This game is too early in the learning curve for our freshmen, the game will be won at the 2 and 3 spots. Look out in the front court, they are led by 6'11" RouSean Cromwell and 6'9" Taj Gibson. Gibson is very similar to Jarvis even though he will most likely cover Charles. This team is young, but loaded with talent. It is in our favor to play this team early. Mayo could still being going through his growing pains, wait maybe that's the pain in his chest after getting run over by a 230 lb linebacker trapped in point guard's body (Jamont Gordon). If this match up happens, look for a great one.
James 5:15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.

Great article Arliss. Boy, if we can win this tournament? What a way to start the season!

Daniel Hackett, their expected starting PG, is out for 6 weeks with a broken jaw. OJ elbowed him accidentaly during a pickup game. Hackett is very very talented. he was a freshman last year, even though he was supposed to be part of the '07 recruiting class. he actually accellerated his HS graduation and entrance into USC because the team was in such desperate need for a PG last year.
now obviously that 6 week timeline will put him back on the court before our potential game, but perhaps he wont quite be in top playing shape due to the setback.
im sure we will need any sort of advantage we can get.

Taj Gibson is a total stud. 12 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game as a freshman.
he will be very tough to contain.

could be a very close game. it looks like we match up quite well with them.

Hopefully OJ Mayo will get caught up in playing a one on one matchup with Jamont. If Mayo struggles early and Jamont gets in his head I think we will be fine. I'm more concerned about getting there.

Getting demolished by Jamont Gordon will be an integral part of Mayo's development. Plus this Thanksgiving he will probably be most thankful for not choosing an SEC school.

You need to sign your name and take credit for that one anonymous, that is pretty good.

Will be an intruiging matchup, assuming it happens.

Heh, that was my anonymous. I always forget to sign.

I wonder how many state fans are going to make the trek to Anaheim.

Anaheim is too far for my current situation, but I've decided that I'm going to every SEC away game that I can this season.

I would love to see us really "travel" with the team this year more than we ever have.

I hope we get buses together for the students and go "take over" a few "away" courts this season and make them our own! That would be great fun!

This season has the potential to be a memorable year for Bulldog basketball, and I am going to make sure that I am part of it.
