anyone else weirded out at how Brian Johnson's knee STILL isnt healed?
the most recent scoping was two years ago. since then, he played a season at LVL. then he had a season off at MSU.

i understand rehab for a knee takes awhile. but the guy has had a couple of years since his last scoping. and he has actually played college ball inbetween then and now.

how is his knee STILL weak?

Stans and all the players interviewed talked about how much they worked out over the summer and how much they played. Johnson was part of that, so...was he doing all that on a weak knee? i assume he was working it out, right?

i suppose i just dont know the specifics as to how long this takes.
but it just doesnt make sense to me as to how his knee could still be so weak.

i sure hope the guy gets his confidence back, as he was one of the top PFs in the country as a soph, junior, and senior back in high school.

Brian has never worked out his legs extensively prior to early spring. He didn't lift much in HS and had his first injury during warmups for his last game at Oak Hill. He wasn't required to lift much at Louisville other than basic rehab. He started working on it in early spring under supervision.

As I understand it, the injury site is healed but he's behind the curve in building strength.

It's not like he can lift 24/7 either. You don't want to throw tendonitis into the mix. It's just a gradual process. I expect that he's good for 15-20 minute early and he'll gradually improve from that if there are no complications. ZD

Since we're on the subject of Brain Johnson, is he a Jr. or Soph.? The officail roster has him as a Jr. but Rick referred to him as a Soph. So who is right? I don't know and I remember Rick not knowing at some point how many years Vernon left at times. I'm betting he is as junior, could be wrong, though.

Johnson had a medical hardship waiver in the '04-'05 season at Lvl.
he then played in the '05-'06 season.
then sat out last season due to transfer.

from what i understand, medical waivers are only actually granted after a player has exhausted all their eligibility.
so Johnson is in his 3rd year of eligibility(think of him as a junior then), but he(the coaching staff) could apply for a 6th year due to medical reasons.

Johnson is a sophomore in terms of ellgibility, but technically a junior. He has three years (including this one) of elligibility remaining.

i called the NCAA at 317.917.6008 and asked them about transfers on top of med red shirts.

they explained that in a situation like Johnson's, he would use up a year of eligibility on sitting out at his new school.
