Offseason Progress

The roster page has been updated with new pics and weights. Its hard to tell with just a head shot, I can tell some difference in Jarvis for sure. Here are the difference in last year to this year.
Previous Present Diff.
Jamont 225 230 +5
Ben 200 205 +5
Brian 245 245 0
Charles 240 245 +5
Barry 165 170 +5
Phil 165 170 +5
Jarvis 195 210 +15
Bill 190 190 0
It seem that all have worked hard this offseason. Most everyone has put on at least 5 pounds this offseason.

Romans 1:17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Those + numbers is all muscle and no fat. They have done a great job this summer and early fall with weight lifting and conditioning. Should pay off rather well when play starts.

Does anyone else besides me find it funny that all the weights are all in increments of five?

Tom said...

Arliss, that's because one's weight is usually listed to the nearest "5" or "10". Players weights are listed as 240 or 245 and not usually 239 0r 244.

Why don't they do that with the football or baseball team? Their weight #'s are all over the place on their roster, no increments of 5.

Anyone else notice Elgin is 265? Wow...that's a thick boy.

Rick said recently that Brian is down to 235 and he said that Augustus lost some burgers and fries, down to 217.

He also said that Ravern is 6'7" to 6'8", he certainly looks it in the picture. ZD

Sorry Arliss,

I was just venturing a guess on the weight thing. I checked UF (my daughter attends there) and their football team's weight is just like our football team. And for the most part, their basketball team is the same as ours... only 3 of the players on their roster record a weight different than a "5" or "0" ending...

Bottom line... I haven't a clue.

Yeah, I'm bored. I looked at Kentucky. Their basketball teams weights are all over the scale. However, on their football team, the weights of 80 out of the 99 players end in "0" or "5".

Told you I was bored!

56 of our 99 football players end in a "0 or 5". I'm not statistics expert, but, that would be a bit skewed as well.

I think we can assume that the folks who are doing the weighing are more apt to report 245 than 244 when they look at the scales. They're in a hurry, 245's close enough.

Anyone else care to venture a hypothesis as to why it is that players have about a 60- 80% chance of having their weight measured to the nearest unit of 5?

Probably not...

what does that say about me?

Jarvis must have worked really hard this off season.I am expecting him to have a very good year.

As to the weights, I guess they just round them off to the nearest 5 pounds.(Most of the time!).
