This is a nice tournament. We have to play them one at a time, and if we get into round 2, we will probably get Southern Illinois, who are supposed to have a "hotshot" coach.

It would be great to win the thing and defeat Southern Cal.They have gotten a lot of preseason publicity, and Tim Floyd is supposed to be another "hotshot".

These games will be a good early barometer for the team.

having the opportunity to play against Southern Ill and USC in the preseason is just awesome. those teams will be true tests of our talent and teamwork.
Soutern Ill is one of the most impressive defensive teams in the country. they are on TV many times each year where i am, and they slow the game down to a crawl with the defense they play.
and USC will be just an offensive machine with OJ Mayo and that sophmore power forward Taj Gibson. throw in the freshmen Diarra and Jefferson, and they have one of the more impressive teams in terms of talent in the country.

i definately think that if we play the SIU and USC games, we would be playing two teams that have more non-conference value than Mizzou or U of Miami(our current "marquee" games).

I'm personally sick of hearing how USC is "highlighting" the tournament, considering we could easily be ranked above them pre-season.

I'm ready to prove some people wrong.

All the spotlights will be on Mayo, but Jamont will be the only PG making a curtain call.
