No Game in Jackson???

It appears that there will be no game in Jackson, Kyle Veazy has some info on the schedule:http://www.clarionledger.com/misc/Blogs/kyleveazey/kyleveazeyblog.html

I am definitely not happen, especially with UM playing in Jacktown this year, this is what keeps the hold on Jackson recruiting. "State looks like it might make an appearance on ABC, too, with the Feb. 16 Arkansas game at The Hump." MSU on ABC, that sounds pretty good. Two games I want to win this season, actually 3. KY and TN, and ARK on the road. I still have bad taste in my mouth about TN and the refs, I haven't cursed at Jamont since. Its all unfolding now, but I am a little disappointed in the possibility of not having a game in Jackson. What is everyone else's feelings?

Jeremiah 23:28 Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?" declares the LORD.

With no game in Jackson, this means that Charles best game of the year might be in the Hump this season.

haha, you beat me to the comment!!
without a Jackson game, where will Rhodes have his best game?

it is a shame that we wont be down there. yeah, it probalby helps for recruiting the metro area, but i think it is a shame from the fan's perspective. the game is always over the holiday break, and i would think that many families in the area enjoy the opportunity to see MSU play.
it always seemed like a nice gesture to the fans, making them availible for autographs and whatnot, and playing in an area where they can get a decent crowd size due to the holiday break.

i remember when i was still in school going to Tupelo with some friends to watch them play against UNO four or five years ago, and it wasnt nearly the experience that i imagine a Jackson game being.

I think you might be reading a little too much into the recruiting aspect. Most of our highly prized Mississippi recruits wind up taking in plenty of games from right behind our bench in the Hump.

Our playing in Jackson, Coast, Tupelo. Southaven is more of a way to treat the fans and find bigger crowds while students are on break. ZD

I think an annual game somewhere in Mississippi besides The Hump (espeicially when students are away) is a very cool idea and should be an annual event for Mississippi State basketball.I am disappointed that we don't seem capable of making things like this happen on a continuous basis.

Two controversial questions:

1.Is leadership lacking somewhere?

2. Will Ole Miss pulling this off on a regular basis and Mississippi State not doing it become a trend?I certainly hope not.

I actually work in the athletic department, and let me tell you...the Jackson game is a PAIN IN THE ASS. Moving all of that equipment and getting it set up is unbelievably difficult. I, for one, am very happy we won't be playing in Jackson.

Well it is a little easier for me to make the game in Jackson (since I live right outside the city), but I plan on making every home game anyway so it's not that big of a loss to me. I will be cheering wherever the team is playing.

Why so down on Charles. Such a talented guy, that we are lucky to have running and dunking at the hump. Would have missed him greatly if he had gone to the nba, and he will be gone before you know it.

Not to down on Chuck, just the most tempermental player we have had in awhile, you realize that he is the only one left out of the two classes that poisoned our program. I hope Chuck does well, we'll need him, but if he doesn't, Jarvis and Brian will be breathing down his neck.

Charles seems passionate about the game. Remember Donovon commenting on Charles and I think he is a pretty good judge of talent. Can he help that he is the same age as the guys that he was recruited with? Maybe he should be commended for being the only one to stay committed to MSU. Further stated his commitment by returning for his senior year, it would have been another rebuilding year if he had gone. Think he said right before the deadline he would go with his heart. If you cut him he would bleed maroon. Hope he has a wonderful senior season.

CR is a gifted forward, especially on offense where he's going to "get his."

Now if he was a better defender and much better rebounder then he'd be on some AA lists.

There's no doubting his talent but he has never been consistent and all around productive. This is his year to put it all together. ZD

I predict that Charles Rhodes will decide that he is going out with a bang!
He is going to concentrate on rebounding and defense and helping the guys around him be better players and let the scoring come to him ( which it will, because he is a 'natural' scorere anyway).
The Charles Rhodes you are going to see this year is going to be ateam player and a first team all-SEC player, who also REBOUNDS aand DEFENDS!

charles has the abiltiy to be a "shut down" defender and a double digit rebounder and he will show both this season!

The rest of the SEC better watch out!

The World better watch out! He could go down as the greatest college basketball player in history if he does all that! Yeah, forget Earvin,Michael,Lew, and Wilt.
I'm wondering, are we a little to demanding. Players have to have to have support from their teamates, coaches and fans, I think. And more importantly there creator.

I hope Charles does all those things and as long as he wears the maroon and white and is representing our university the way it derserves he will have my support.

think this is a bad idea. i loved the game in jackson. it has the best atmosphere of just about all the pre-conference games.

Rick puts alot of stock into this game, it looks as if Andy at UM is taking a lesson from Rick on how to build a program.
