Most people would say that they don't know much about Kodi Augustus. I've done some research and found some quotes about what people had to say about him.
"He's a Division I [prospect], and any time he gets the ball, he knows what to do with it," Reese said. "We did a better job in the second half of locking up on him and putting more pressure on the passer, making it more difficult for him to get the ball."
Interesting fact: Benard Rimmer also attended a Maine Prep School.
"Kodi Augustus is a more powerful finisher on the break and off the dribble drive."
"Augustus is a natural small forward with a nice shot from 3 point land. He is versatile enough, however to play power forward on occasion and can play down low."http://www.risemag.com/main.cfm?actionId=globalShowStaticContent&screenKey=NationalNews&&categoryKey=HotNews&articleId=6689#
"There’s a reason Augustus didn’t make the camp All-Star game. Its because he’s in love with his jump shot. Yes, he shot a nice 43% from three, and his stroke is improving, but he’d be more productive if he played on the inside right now. The fact that he was more focused on showing off his shot instead of helping his team win games might say something about his personality."
"At 6’9”, Augustus has legitimate pro potential. He’s a solid athlete, and has a variety of talents. He can hit the three, handles in the open court, and finishes. Like so many forwards at camp though, sometimes they try and do too much to show off their perimeter game, and Augustus was a bit too trigger happy. He has a lot of work left to do, but his physical talents alone should move him up the recruiting rankings."http://www.collegehoopsnet.com/recruiting/abcd/060706.htm
"Athletic forward showed a nice offensive game, and that along with his size makes him a real sleeper. He shot the ball well from mid-range and long range to the tune of 18 points in one game, and he has a good frame. High-major prospect. "http://www.hoopville.net/column/kasiecki.asp?EntryID=15035
Well, I learned little more about Kodi myself, sure would be some nice to see some video though. He looks to have a nice stroke. Saw a couple negative comments about him shooting too much, but if he can make 43%, who can complain? Alot of the comparisons remind me of Osby.
I leave all with this topic for the weekend, I'm going out of town and not taking my laptop, I'll be back blogging on Sunday, hope we hear from Bailey soon. Always keep your faith strong.
John 2:11 This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.

I, personally, am okay with a trigger-happy 43% three shooter. Ha.
My concern with Augustus ( and Ravern Johnson for that matter ) is that we haven't done a great job of assimilating big perimeter players in the past and we seem more inclined to playing a small lineup with 3 guards. Maybe because that's all we've had ?
This year I think Rick will want to start Gordon, Stewart, and Hansbrough at the perimeter positions. Leaning on experience.
Ravern will provide depth along with Turner and Benock. It's really a matter of how rugged he's capable of playing, especially on defense.
Augustus on the other hand, I see him playing the power forward position, with growing freedom to step out on the perimeter and "fire at will."
Rick will be happy with the trio of veteran frontcourt players Rhodes, Varnado, and Brian Johnson combined and Augustus will have to earn his way at the 4.
I think Kodi has the potential to be the impact player if he's truly 6'9" 220. To me, that makes him physically capable of creating some mismatches and spending a lot of time on the floor in SEC games. He just seems to bring a set of skills our other 4/5 players don't.
As we know from the past, it might all be "between the ears" though. You never know how freshmens will acclimate to the expectations our Coaching staff has for it's student/ athletes. Let's hope and pray that they are better adjusted as FR than the 2004 recruits were.

Augustus is a college basketball ready prep school player. He's listed at 6-9, and is very talented/very skilled. This kid is a highly skilled athelete, and has been compared to Tracy Mcgrady.
Kodi has all the skills needed to be a great player. If he will give his best to our program he will reap the reward.
Motivation for talented players is a part of coaching. As opposed to the "coachable" kids that a coach K has in his program. By the way if one of his boys makes the USA team I think I'll throw up. Maybe you should be lauded for taking supposedly less coachable kids and getting the most out of them. "Coaching" them to be a team player.
I use to watch coach Williams scream at players for not performing. Maybe it is the coaches job to "coach". Do we have a chip on our shoulder because we weren't given the God given talent of others and hold them to a higher standard, that they don't need coaching as much as a less talented "coachable" player. Let me say coach one more time before I quit. OK I feel better now!
MSU Fan,
I've seen first hand what Kodi Augustus can do. First of all, his stroke is very dangerous from the perimeter. probably better than anybody of his caliber in the SEC. Second, Once Kodi gets the lower half of his body stronger, which he's working on right now, MSU will be tought to handle. Consider this, jamont Gordon will be double teamed by every team. Charles Rhodes should do well in the paint and and the other players Barry and Hanborough wil do their thing, Kodi will be the silent killer. Kodi can really really shoot the basketball. So MSU in my opinion will be outright dangerous if my estimation is correct. Kodi is Big Time!!!!!!!! You'll see
Maybe coach K got a taste of what he was missing with all the talent he has now on the USA team. I think coaches get a little big headed after they win a couple championships and tend to read there press clippings on there coaching ability so they stop recruiting the top talent.
Coach K, Tubby, Nolan are examples of resting on your laurels. Give me a team of Kodi Augustuses! KODI! KODI! KODI! KODI!
