Miami Ohio Scouting Report

Scouting report from The Sports Network:
The RedHawks' run to the NCAA Tournament was based solely on the play of the team at the defensive end of the floor. Miami-Ohio held the opposition to just 57.4 ppg a year ago and for the RedHawks to return to the Big Dance the team must duplicate that effort. The leader of this group is without question forward Tim Pollitz. The 6-6 senior has dominated down low for Miami, and is coming off a terrific season in which he posted 16.1 ppg to go along with 5.6 rpg. While Pollitz is the anchor for the RedHawks, swingman Michael Bramos is clearly the sparkplug for Miami. Bramos tallied 11.2 ppg last season, but it is his defensive play that makes him valuable, as the junior led the squad with 41 blocks and 46 steals. Alex Moosmann, who struggled last year as a freshman, will get another chance to prove his worth, but this time the guard will have much more help thanks to incoming juco transfer Kenny Hayes and also freshman Rodney Haddix.

The game is set for Sunday, 8PM on ESPN2.

another team that is very defensively oriented and slows the game down.
i watched the USC-Miami(OH) game and it was interesting. the Redhawks pretty much play just like SIU. they press, they disrupt passing lanes, they are active on defense, and they block out well. on offense, they took the clock down low before shooting it and moved A LOT on offense with cuts and flashes thru the lane.

this will be yet another big test for us.
after watching these games, i really wish our team had the movement on offense and active defense that these other teams bring to the floor.

MSU is so athletic, but just doesnt apply it.

The Jamont Show will not make the cut this fall/spring if we don't learn how to handle double teams and half court traps.

One of the best looking plays of the game when Jamont posted up on the left side, received the pass and scored. We need to think about Stewart as the point, Jamont on the wing, and Rhodes/Varnado/Johnson as the front court.
