Looking Ahead and Not Behind

Well, most folks will agree with me when I say we are not where we thought we would be after six games. Lets put the first 6 games in the rear view mirror and lets look at the next 6 games before we face Mizo at home. We can get a good start this Saturday by beating the Racers of Murry State and then playing the host to SE LA and Miami. Then we have a 3 game road trip and personally I think this is were the rubber meets the road. If we can win 3 at the Hump and then overcome our jet lag and wrap up the road trip to Corpus Christi, the Classic will be a distant memory. The next six games will be a good measuring stick of how the season could start to turn. How do you see the next six games and what improvements would like to see between now and December 29. I want to see us develop some depth off the bench and see the sophomores point production increase. How about you?

Hebrews 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

These early bumps don't have to/won't stop Mississippi State. A lot of improvement can/will be made, and a lot of games are left to be played.

Stansbury and the other coaches, ect. can do it. The players can do it. The team is very capable.............

We out-rebounded all 3 opponents at Classic which means the effort was there. Our rebound effort was offset by our turnovers which are mostly silly mental mistakes.

Inconsistant is the word and the main cause is inexperience.

Gordon, double-Delk and Rhodes played together 2 full seasons. Hans and Stewart split time with double-Delk last year and the team will need more time to transition as a new unit. This is compounded by replacing the depth we had last year since Hans and Stewart are not coming off bench. B Johnson and Bailey give us big depth.

1. Keep up the effort! (rebounding)
2. Hans, Stewart and Turner need more experience. (especially game experience)
3. Replace depth lost by Hans and Stewart starting. (Turner and Freshmen)

If these 3 things happen, this team will be very good. The talent and coaching are there. This team has shown flashes of excellence but inconsistency has been the mark. If turnovers are cut in half and rebounding stays the same... we will win lots of games.

Fan support will be necessary while this team gets over these bumps and builds confidence. We have to be consistant just like they do!

Two sets (home, away) of three games before Christmas. Miami is much improved from last year and will be key game of home set. Away set will be big test since we travel cross country... again. We can win both sets which sets up a large Missouri game and a Dawg Bowl game for New Years.

A seven game win streak and a Bowl victory is great way to start the new year!

as of now, i see us dropping the game against Miami.
if anyone saw them play in the Puerto Rico Tournament, im sure you will agree that Miami played very well and was impressive.

but just like the alcoholics say, one day at a time. or for us, one game at a time. right now, i cant even say that Murray State is a lock.
i really hope we show up to play tomorrow.
