MSU 75 LA Tech 45

Probably the most unimpressive 30 point victory I have ever seen. Take that comment for what it is worth. We will need to play much better to beat Clemson on Thursday. What impression did you get from the season opener.
MSU outrebounded 52-46. Assists to TO MSU: 13-4
High Scorers:
Jamont 21 pts 5 rbs
Charles 17 pts 7 rbs
Jarvis 6 blks
Barry 13 pts 11 rebs WOW
Ben 11 pts

When our backcourt is leading the team in rebounding we are still having issues. Clemson has some large athletic players, we will see if we get exploited next Thursday in the paint. I still seeing MSU clearing out from under the goal after shots missed. Jarvis had trouble shooting the ball and Jamont settled in last in the first half, but we have alot of room for improvement. We will see, but we must play better on Thursday if we want to win against the tigers.

Well, the turnover problem faded. Late in the game we had about 4. Shot poor early and still have to work on rebounding.

I really like Hansbrough, Stewart, and Varnado. The Sophmore III. Everyone else looks like they're pressing to me.

We could have won this game by 45-50 pts easily but it was more like a psuedo exhibition game. ZD

Must have been a little jacked up with the football buzz and all. Did everyone come over from Davis Wade?

The Hump will be very intimidating this year! BULLY

Varnado was credited with 6 blocks on the official website.

I was suprised to see Stewart's rebounding total. I guess that's what happens when Slater gets out of the way.

Gonna be long week of practices before Clemson. If we don't do a good job of sealing off and rebounding then it's going to be a really tough game. Home court is very big though. First really good look at the season ticket arrangement via the exchange system. ZD

Not that I can see, and thanks for the corrrection on Jarvis. Three things that get the crowd up is blocks, slams and threes.

Plenty of that in the Hump this year. I love this game! Should be packed out every nite.

The shots will eventually start falling for Ravern and Kodi.

great to see us have such a solid A/TO rate. 13assists isnt all that high, but at least the turnovers were kept low.

rebounding is embarrasing. there is no other way to say it. we shoot from the outside and our big ment in the paint literally clear out! what the heck is that?!?! it was like our big guys were trying to lead the way down the court for defense. im not sure what that is all about, seeing as how ive never seen that anywhere on the college level.

free throws werent great. but they seemed a little better than the exhibition games. id have to check the stats. i wasnt 'wowed' by the FT shooting still though.

Jamont really came on at the end of the first half. what, he had three 3pointers in a row, right? barry played very well. Jarvis seemed to shoot when there was a cap on the rim.
and Ravern looked pretty good shooting...except for that playground turnaround fader at the elbow that missed the basket by 3 feet.

a lot is gonna have to change b/w now and saturday for us to beat Clemson.

speaking of them, i sure hope they are having some rusty play to start the season too.

The offensive rebounding would improve if Sir Charles and Kodi would quit screwing around out on the circle on offense and play in the paint! If they keep trying to shoot 3's, they'd learn a little something riding the pine if I was coaching. JMO.
